The art of
a little less.
The best part of a journey is sometimes the part you did not plan. Not because nothing happened, but because you finally had time to notice it.
An itinerary with margins
A full itinerary looks reassuring on paper. Every hour accounted for, every view captured. Yet it can leave very little room for the place itself. We prefer a different starting point: one anchor each day, with space on either side. A walk. A table. An encounter arranged with care.
Quiet is not isolation
A quieter journey need not mean an empty coast or a remote villa. It might mean a town with ordinary life around you, a café you return to and a host who has time to explain something. Luxury, here, is attention rather than separation.
“The point is not to do nothing. It is to make room for what matters.”
Choose the room carefully
A room matters more when you intend to spend time in it. Consider the light, the setting, how you will arrive and where you can eat on a rainy evening. Ask what actually operates in your season. The smallest practical detail can make the difference between a beautiful photograph and a genuinely good stay.
Leave something for next time
You do not owe a destination complete coverage. Leave a road untravelled. Keep a village for another season. Go home remembering a few things clearly, rather than many things vaguely.
